Petrol from Dangote Refinery Set for Market Release by July – Aliko Dangote
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, announced that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, refined at the Dangote Refinery will be available in the market by July.
Dangote made this announcement during a tour of the refinery facility in Lagos, which was attended by a Senate delegation led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
He attributed the adjusted timeline to a delay that pushed the initial target from June to mid-July.
“We experienced a slight delay, but we expect PMS to start coming out between the 10th and 15th of July. We will keep it in the tank to ensure it settles, so it should be ready for market distribution by the third week of July,” Dangote stated.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, began producing diesel and aviation fuel in January.
The refinery reported receiving six million barrels of crude oil at its two Single Point Moorings (SPMs) located 25 kilometers offshore. The first crude oil delivery was made on December 12, 2023, and the sixth cargo arrived on January 8.
In addition, the refinery advanced its operations by receiving an extra one million barrels of Bonny Light crude from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC Ltd).
In April, the company also started supplying petroleum products to the local market.
