Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem has openly criticized Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), for his silence on the current hardships in the country.
In his newly released satirical song “Emilokan,” Eedris accuses Adeboye of hypocrisy amidst the struggles faced by Nigerians under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He points out that Adeboye was very vocal in criticizing former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration but has been noticeably quiet about the current situation.
Eedris highlights Adeboye’s past willingness to organize a large protest against Jonathan, juxtaposing it with his silence now, saying, “During Goodluck Jonathan’s time, your voice was so loud, you vowed to stage a one-million-man march. Now, with hunger and hardship under Tinubu’s government, you said Nigeria has a spiritual problem.”
Calling for a similar protest against Tinubu’s government, Eedris urges, “Baba, we need your one million disciples to protest against Tinubu’s government just as you did against President Jonathan.”
He further criticizes Adeboye’s inaction, labeling it as hypocrisy and emphasizing the urgent need for truth to be spoken to power as Nigerians face severe hunger. Eedris cleverly turns Tinubu’s campaign slogan “Emi Lokan” (It’s my turn) into “Ebi Lokan” (It’s hunger’s turn), reflecting the widespread suffering across the nation.
